Why is your name “Polianna”?
The company has always had a focus on helping small businesses rank at the top of Google search. However, in the beginning, the name of the company was actually named “Annapolis SEO” because that Annapolis, Maryland was where the inception of starting a business in SEO first began.
However, a few business mentors had shared with the owner, John, that one day the company may grow to serve partners much further out than Annapolis, Maryland. At the time, it seemed like an impossibility, but he took their advice to change the name anyways.
Bootstrapping the business at the time, he didn’t want to have to re-do the logo running on limited funds. So he opened up Microsoft paint, stared at the screen for a few minutes, and in a stroke of inspiration, saw an anagram that could be created from “Annapolis”.
(Anna)polis → Poli(anna)s → Polianna
Polianna is a misspelling of the word “Pollyanna” which meant an excessively cheerful or optimistic person. With the business just starting and the Founder having an optimistic personality, the name Polianna was selected as the new name for the company.
